It’s Labor Day weekend, which means lots of people are traveling! My philosophy for vacation-time makeup and skin care is “less is more,” mostly because I don’t want to carry around a ton of products with me if I can help it. I think every good travel bag needs a few cosmetic essentials to make sure you look and feel your best without feeling like you’re carrying around your entire bathroom. Let’s dive into mine:
-
Maybelline Fit Me Tinted Moisturizer: This is the perfect, light coverage for dinner after a long beach day, or for a day out and about. It’s lightweight, clean formula gives me that “I’m on vacation” glow without making me feel oily.
-
Maybelline Brow Pencil in Soft Brown: One beauty trend I absolutely love is faux freckles, especially since I wasn’t lucky enough to be born with them (if you have them naturally, you are soooo lucky!). I use this brow pencil to create subtle, natural freckles for a sun kissed look and recommend it to anyone who is looking to add in or redefine their natural beauty marks that sometimes get lost after applying creams and foundations.
My #1 travel secret though is my Ipsy Glam Bag. If you don’t know about it yet, Ipsy is a subscription service that sends you a monthly glam bag full of new products to try each month. My August glam bag came packed with awesome products just in time for my trip to Italy. Here are some of my faves:
-
Glow Recipe Avocado Melt Retinol Eye Sleeping Mask: my first rule of travel beauty is HYDRATION and REPAIR. Changing time zones, spending hours on planes, and not getting the best sleep will take a major toll on your skin in general, but especially under eyes. That’s why this super hydrating, reparative mask from Glow recipe is one of my new staples!
-
Thrive Cosmetics Glossy Lip Hydrating Serum™in Ruth: Like I said before, HYDRATION is my travel key. This super smooth, ultra glossy lip serum from Thrive Cosmetics is unmatched by anything else and the perfect pick me up after a long day of travel.
Of course, I can’t be caught without my favorite basics, the tried and true, the ones that never fail me:
-
Coconut Oil: The perfect hydrating cure-all. I use unrefined coconut oil in my hair, on my body, and as a spot treatment for pimples (I love that it’s anti-bacterial!). It’s the perfect product to use after a long day in the sun or water and really comes in handy for just about any need.
-
Trader Joe’s Vitamin E Oil: I love Trader’s vitamin E oil as my everyday moisturizer. It’s natural, gentle, and keeps my skin hydrated without clogging my pores or causing irritation. I use it morning and night, under makeup, before bed, or really any time my skin needs a drink.
-
Wet Brush: My favorite place to travel is anywhere with ocean access. Great for soothing my mind but not so great for smooth hair. That’s why I love a wet brush, so when I get out of the ocean I can brush out the tangles for a salt-kissed, tousled I’m-living-my-best-life style.
