This year was my second time at New York Fashion Week (NYFW) and my first time attending as a newly minted swim designer myself. I was blown away by the artistry of each line, and the way you can tell how many people contribute to these absolutely insane shows.
Here are a few of my favorite moments from the week:
  1. FASHION HISTORY WITH FENDI: It was incredible to help celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Fendi Baguette. The more I get into fashion, the more I start to understand the significance of fashion history, how certain silhouettes shaped entire trends and how Silvia Venturini Fendi, the original designer of the baguette, is being honored by the current artistic director, Kim Jones. The brand was also directed by Karl Lagerfeld at one point, and to see a brand change between such iconic and influential hands and still maintain its position as a fashion force is really inspiring as someone who is just starting out in the fashion business!

2. EXPLORING (with) CHELSEA: Usually when I’m in the city, I stay in upper Manhattan where I do the majority of my work. This time, I got to sneak away with one of my best friends, Chelsea, to explore the Chelsea area in Manhattan. Chelsea is Manhattan’s art district and I loved the vibe there so much. There were tons of galleries and we got a glimpse of High Line Park, a park built on an old abandoned railway. We ate the BEST Italian food together one night and this pasta was seriously incredible. It was so fun to be able to see all of it with one of my oldest hometown friends.

3. SAVING FACE: I was so excited to take a break from the hustle and bustle and give my skin a break with Lynsthetics. I went in for one of my all-time favorite treatments, an Oxygen Facial, which was especially helpful because I had been wearing so much makeup to the different events I had going on that week. Oxygen facials essentially suck all the gunk out of your pores and leave you feeling baby smooth and refreshed. It was a total reset and if you’re in New York I highly recommend paying her a visit!

4. ALL COLORS WITH ALICE & OLIVIA: Another show I was so stoked to attend was Alice and Olivia, whose bright colors absolutely blew me away. AO was so kind as to lend me a beautiful silk suit for the show, in one of my absolute favorite colors from their new line, this beautiful, electric, turquoise blue. The line, just like my salad, was fresh, fun, and lively.

5. MAKING FRIENDS AT CYNTHIA ROWLEY: As if attending Cynthia Rowley’s show wasn’t already great, I also met a new friend, Lexi, a fellow influencer, Latina, and celebrator of different body types. I sat next to her and her amazing assistant, Chloe, at the show and she told me how much she loved my swim suits and showed me pictures of herself in them. It made me so happy! Fashion week can be a lot, running from place to place, meeting tons of new people, changing in cars and trying to make the most of every moment. It was so nice in all the chaos to really connect with a soul as kind as Lexi’s. I think NYFW sometimes gets a bad rep as a place where things are really competitive, but I think every opportunity is what you make it, and I was so happy to make a new friend in someone so down to earth and stylish.

6. GETTING READY FOR SHOWS: I was so excited to collaborate with a local photographer on a fun get ready video before heading out to a few shows. It’s been a while since I filmed any sort of GRWM content and I am so excited to share it with you guys!
Overall, this NYFW was certainly one to remember and I left feeling more inspired than ever. It’s really nice when you take a trip or go to work and come back feeling invigorated with fresh ideas that I can’t wait to share with you all in Sienna Swim’s collection 3…<3
